The Horn

The Horn

My grandmá had a cows horn. When I saw it as a four years old kid, I felt a physical urge to have such one. The shape and texture, the transparency, the colours and the brutality it represented lid a fire, which has been burning ever since. I started to play around with epoxy one day, using different fillers and pigments, and I realised, it was time to make my horn. I carved the shape with reference to some of the horns, I had collected since I held the first one in my hand at my grandmás. I carved It from styrofoam and used that as a positive mould for the fibreglass laminated epoxy. I worked with heavily thixotropic epoxy, which I brushed on - layer upon layer with different colours and fillers - until my horn looked exactly like I wanted it to.

Exceeding 2 meters, I don’t dare to imagine the bull. It́s a trophy from my childhood dreams.
