The Tooth

The Tooth

This giant molar - looking like an ivory castle from a fairytale - was inspired by a fossil Cave Bear tooth. I like to think of which feeding frenzies, it has facilitated thousands of years ago. Now that time has turned it into stone, the colours have changed. Cracks are bleeding rust, and strange minerals have painted the subsurface of the enamel. I was building the tooth from epoxy, layer upon layer day after day - painting it and covering what I just painted with semi-transparent resin until the tooth was ready to crush.

On a raw block of oak wood resides The Tooth in our hand made steel stand.
