Studio Megaton and Rune Fjord Studio present Best Before Christmas, the fourth chapter in the ongoing INFESTEDseries.

Installed as a window exhibition in the center of Copenhagen, the work reveals an opulent Christmas table that has passed its best-before date. A grand feast is laid out, surrounded by crystal glasses, gold-rimmed porcelain, candelabras, and an abundance of traditional dishes. Everything appears perfect at first glance.

But time has taken over.

Best Before Christmas explores our relationship with consumption, tradition, and the passage of time. Drawing from both art history and everyday rituals, the installation echoes the opulence of classical still lifes while subverting their ideals of beauty and perfection.

In a culture obsessed with the new, the flawless, and the timely, this work invites us to look again—at what happens after. At the overlooked moment when things begin to change, decay, and transform.

Because nothing truly disappears. It only becomes something else.

Cast from real food and altered with artificial mold, the installation reveals a slow transformation. Wine stains expand, fungi emerge, and decay redefines the scene. Celebration gives way to something unfamiliar—yet undeniably captivating.
